If a candidate is unable to qualify by the aforementioned method, they may petition for ballot placement.

By filing a "certified" petition of 5,000 signatures to the State Board of Elections.

All candidates must also pay a filing fee of $1,000

The Republican and Democrat state executive committees may choose to distribute their party’s authorized delegate votes for presidential candidates based on the results of a party caucus, a presidential preference primary, or a combination of the two methods.
